Winter Session of Odisha Assembly Begins, CM Naveen Patnaik Joins Through Video Link

The winter session of the Odisha meeting started on Friday amid strict adherence to the COVID-19 tips, and was adjourned for half-a-day after obituary references to former members, and frontline employee who misplaced their lives preventing the pandemic.

The continuing of the fifth session of the 16th meeting started with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik shifting an obituary reference to former speaker Sarat Kumar Kar, former authorities chief whip Gurupada Nanda, ex-MLA Kartikeswar Patra, and the COVID warriors who died on obligation.

Leader of Opposition PK Naik of the BJP, and Congress legislature occasion chief Narasingha Mishra participated within the obituary reference and highlighted the contribution of the ex-members and the COVID warriors. While Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik joined the proceedings by way of video convention from his residence, each Naik and Mishra have been current within the House.

Speaker SN Patro later introduced that the proceedings will stay adjourned for half-a-day as a mark of respect to the ex-members and the COVID warriors. The House will reassemble at three pm for the second section of the proceedings, he stated.

There will likely be no query hour throughout the session, officers stated. The sitting preparations for the MLAs within the meeting are made sustaining social distancing in accordance with the COVID-19 tips.

During the winter session, the House will operate for four-and-a-half hours in two shifts. The first session will likely be held from 10.30 am to 1 pm and the second session from three pm to five pm. In the second section, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari is scheduled to current the primary Supplementary Budget and Statement of Expenditure for 2020-21.
