West Bengal polls: 12 CAPF corporations attain state, 30 extra to reach on Sunday – India News , Firstpost

The Election Commission of India has determined to deploy 125 corporations of Central Armed Police Forces within the state by 25 February for the upcoming Assembly election

At least 12 corporations of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) reached West Bengal on Saturday morning because the state prepares for its meeting polls due in April-May, an Election Commission official stated.

Another 30 corporations of the CAPF are prone to arrive on Sunday, he informed PTI.

The EC has determined to deploy 125 corporations of central forces in West Bengal by 25 February for the meeting election. Two corporations of the central forces reached Durgapur by practice, one firm at Bardhaman station and 5 corporations Dankuni, he stated.

Another 4 corporations reached the Kolkata railway station by practice.

“The forces were brought in from Jammu and Kashmir. They will be heading to areas where they have been assigned to,” the EC official stated.

One firm every might be despatched to Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Hooghly, Paschim and Purba Bardhaman and Birbhum districts, Bidhannagar, Barrackpore, Diamond Harbour, Durgapur and Howrah poice commissionerate and Howrah rural areas, he stated.

Sixty corporations of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 30 corporations of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and 5 corporations every of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will attain the state within the subsequent few days, he stated.

“The idea behind deploying central forces now is to ensure that there is no problem when campaigning for the election starts. It is being done also to build confidence in the voters. Stress will be on area domination by the forces, especially in the sensitive zones,” the official stated.

Coordination and monitoring of the central forces will be achieved by a group comprising of Chief Electoral Officer Ariz Aftab, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Jawed Shamim, nodal officer of the state police and DIG(BSF) nodal officer for the CAPF.

The CEO has been requested to be in contact with the forces instantly and inform the EC at any time when the CAPF face any downside in discharging its duties, the official added. Apart from route march, the central forces will even be patrolling within the evening, he stated including the safety personnel will ship each day reviews to the CEO by eight pm.
