US Commits $1.9 Million to India to Support Informal Sector Workers, Micro Enterprises Hit by Covid-19

The US has dedicated USD 1.9 million to help weak populations like casual sector staff whose livelihoods have been disrupted on account of COVID-19. USAID funds will help the Revive alliance, based by the Samhita-Collective Good Foundation and co-funded by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Omidyar Network India, and the Ford Foundation, to handle challenges attributable to unemployment and earnings gaps confronted by staff within the casual financial system, the US embassy mentioned in an announcement.






Revive will launch a USD 6.85 million blended finance facility in its first part to offer accessible and reasonably priced capital within the type of returnable grants or loans to self-employed staff and at-risk nano and micro enterprises to both maintain their work or discover various enterprise alternatives, it mentioned. The facility is predicted to achieve between 60,000-100,000 staff and enterprises and can give desire to youth and girls. Revive may also undertake upskilling actions for laid-off youth and casual labourers, the assertion mentioned.

Samhita-Collective Good Foundation will provoke shared-value partnerships with a spread of stakeholders, together with enterprise chambers, non-banking monetary corporations, personal enterprises, and others.
