This Republican senator

It is not “Congress’ most prolific tweeter.”

And but, that is precisely what Cornyn is, in line with an evaluation executed by Hamilton Place Strategies of the primary three months (and 157,757 tweets!) of social media exercise by members of Congress.

Cornyn, actually, ran circles — tweeted circles? — round his competitors.  Between January 1 and March 31, Cornyn despatched a whopping 2,198 tweets, greater than double the second-place Republican finisher (Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs at 1,006 tweets.)

The most lively tweeter on the Democratic facet was Pennsylvania Rep. Dwight Evans (no, not the Red Sox nice) who despatched 1,740 tweets over the primary three months of 2021.

Interestingly, Cornyn was considered one of six senators within the prime 10 GOP tweeters. Only Chuck Schumer, who despatched the 10th most tweets on the Democratic facet, broke into the highest 10 for congressional Democrats.

But it is the sheer variety of tweets from Cornyn that stand out within the HPS evaluation. As Texas Monthly famous earlier this week Cornyn’s tempo breaks all the way down to roughly one tweet for each hour of the day. Every day between January 1 and March 31.
And what’s he tweeting? Again, Texas Monthly gives some perception:
“Cornyn’s tweets are available a wide range of kinds: the non-public (bear in mind his brisket?), the cryptic (usually unattributed excerpts from articles he is learn), and the snarky (“It’s summer time, Chuck,” he wrote in response to a 2019 tweet from Senate majority chief Chuck Schumer noting that July was the most well liked month ever recorded on the planet). Sometimes Cornyn desires to push a coverage place comparable to border reform, generally he desires to allow you to into his life, and generally he simply desires to make enjoyable of his rivals with a beer.”
What’s clear is that Cornyn expects different politicians to satisfy the excessive bar he has set for tweeting. He just lately made nationwide headlines when he quoted a Politico story that stated President Joe Biden’s tweets have been “limited” and “unimaginably conventional,” including: “Invites the question: is he really in charge?”

Does it?

The Point: Cornyn clearly loves Twitter. But possibly he loves it an excessive amount of?
