Tamil Nadu Govt Issues SOP For Places of Worship, Says No to Sprinkling of Holy Water

The Tamil Nadu authorities on Monday issued a Standard Operating Procedure for locations of worship in rural areas, outlining norms to stop the unfold of coronavirus. It consists of prohibition for “physical offerings like prasad, distribution or sprinkling of holy water to be allowed inside the religious place.”

From Wednesday, small temples, mosques, darghas, church buildings and different spiritual locations in rural areas can be open for public worship in Tamil Nadu.

In village panchayats falling below Tiruvallur, Chengelpet and Madurai, worship can be allowed from July 6.

In mosques, prayers shouldn’t be supplied by sitting shoulder to shoulder.

A distance of six toes must be maintained by folks and masks should be used compulsorily, the SOP stated, including “installation and use of Arogya Setu App is advised.”
