Ballari: The means of re-identification of the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh inter-state boundaries destroyed by alleged rampant unlawful mining within the Ballari reserve forest will start on Friday, senior officers mentioned.

Justice N Santosh Hegde, former Lokayukta, who had investigated into the unlawful mining, had confirmed the destruction of the boundary marking in his report on such mining.
Many social and political activists had approached the Supreme Court to analyze into the destruction of the boundary markers.
The petitioners had argued that the unlawful mining probe on the border will not be accomplished with out restoring the inter-state boundary markers. Following this, the Supreme Court had ordered the Survey of India to mark the inter-state boundary.
For two years, the officers of the Survey of India, together with officers from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, had carried out surveys a number of instances to establish the precise location of the border, sources mentioned.
According to the sources, a report could be submitted to the Supreme Court on Friday.
