Pakistan’s Former Foreign Minister Arrested In Assets Beyond Means Case

Pakistan’s former international minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif was arrested in Islamabad on Tuesday by anti-corruption officers for allegedly having belongings past technique of revenue.

Asif was taken into the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) when he was popping out of a celebration assembly right here, stated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PM-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb.

His daughter Maryam Nawaz alleged that Asif was being pressured to oppose Nawaz Sharif and was arrested on refusing to take action.

With his arrest, Asif now joins an extended listing of PML-N leaders dealing with instances of corruption, together with get together president Shehbaz Sharif, senior members Hamza Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah, Javed Latif, Ahsan Iqabl, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Saad Rafique , amongst others.

The arrest comes at a time when the Pakistan Democratic Movement — an alliance of 11 Opposition events — is organising protest rallies throughout the size and breath of the nation, demanding Prime Minister Imran Khan resign.
