A spokesman informed CNN the plane was on surveillance operations in Niger State as a part of efforts to rescue not less than 42 schoolchildren and employees members taken by gunmen from the Government Science School Kagara final Wednesday. One pupil died in the course of the assault.
Air Vice-Marshal Ibikunle Daramola informed CNN on Monday afternoon that the air power had donated the army airplane to a joint activity power coordinating the rescue operation in Kagara.
“The rescue effort is being coordinated by a multi-agency team… the crashed aircraft was part of the air force’s contribution to the rescue mission,” he added.
Daramola informed CNN that the airforce would proceed to help the rescue operation.
He added that each one households of the personnel have been knowledgeable, and an investigation launched.
The ongoing rescue efforts adopted a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to the armed forces and police to make sure all captives are rescued.
