Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari’s spouse Afsan Ansari and her two brothers, Sarjil Raza and Anwar Shahzad, have been booked beneath the Gangster Act, police stated on Monday. A case beneath the Gangster Act has been registered in opposition to the trio on the Kotwali police station in Ghazipur, Ghazipur Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Singh stated.

Sarjil Raza and Anwar Shahzad had additionally been charge-sheeted earlier in a case of furnishing faux paperwork for buying authorities contracts, stated the SP, including the case is pending within the court docket.

Their sister too has a case of embezzlement of cash lodged in opposition to her, Singh added. Under Section 14 of the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986, a district Justice of the Peace can order attachment of any movable or immovable property acquired by a gangster by acts acknowledged as an offence beneath the Act.
