Mehul Choksi Accuses Indian Agencies Of Kidnapping Attempt

Back in Antigua and Barbuda after being jailed in neighbouring Dominica, fugitive jeweller Mehul Choksi on Thursday stated he was “permanently scarred” and blamed Indian regulation enforcement businesses for making an attempt to kidnap him, information company ANI reported.

“I’m back home but this torture has left permanent scars on my psychology and physically rather than permanent scars on my soul. I couldn’t imagine after closing all my business and seizing all my properties, kidnapping attempt would be made on me by Indian agencies,” he was quoted as saying.

Earlier within the day, studies had stated that the 62-year-old diamantaire landed in Antigua and Barbuda, the place he has been staying since 2018 after fleeing India. For the final 51 days, he was in jail in Dominica for getting into the nation illegally.

On Monday, Mehul Choksi was given bail by the Dominica High Court to journey again to Antigua for in search of medical assist from a neurologist there. He deposited the bail of 10,000 East Caribbean Dollars or roughly Rs 2.7 lakh and flew again to Antigua in a chartered aircraft carrying a shirt and shorts, Antigua News Room reported on Thursday.
