Man Becomes Overnight Millionaire After Meteorite Crashes Through His Roof

Josua Hutagalung has bought the meteorite for over one million kilos.

An Indonesian man grew to become a millionaire in a single day after a meteor crashed by his roof. Josua Hutagalung, 33, is a coffin maker from Sumatra who grew to become astronomically richer after he just lately bought the meteorite for over 1 million kilos – or roughly Rs 9.eight crore. 

Mr Hutagalung was working outdoors his house in August when the two.1 kg house rock smashed by the tin roof in his veranda.

“The sound was so loud that parts of the house were shaking too. And after I searched, I saw that the tin roof of the house had broken,” he informed information outlet Kompas on the time. “When I lifted it, the stone was still warm.”

He shared photographs of the meteorite on Facebook, the place they created a flurry of curiosity.

According to the Independent, the meteorite is carbonaceous chondrite – a particularly uncommon selection estimated to be 4.5 billion years outdated. It is reportedly value round 645 kilos (roughly Rs 63,000) per gram.

Josua Hutagalung has now bought the rock to a specialist collector – Jared Collins of the USA. Mr Collins has reportedly re-sold it to fellow collector Jay Piatek, who has saved in liquid nitrogen on the Centre for Meteorite Studies at Arizona State University. 

Mr Hutagalung didn’t disclose the precise quantity he was paid for the uncommon rock, which has magnetic properties. However, he indicated that the quantity was over 1 million kilos.

With the cash he has obtained – estimated to be equal to 30 years value of his wage – he plans to retire and construct a brand new church in his village.
