An order issued by senior well being officers of Jharkhand’s Koderma district warning authorities staff not turning up for COVID vaccination of withholding salaries until they have been immunised was withdrawn on Sunday after a backlash.

The order, issued by Chief Medical Officer Parvati Kumari Nag and District Immunisation Officer Dr Abhay Bhushan Prasad on Saturday mentioned that the withheld salaries can be launched solely after the manufacturing of vaccination certificates.

Principal Secretary of the Health Department, Nitin Kulkarni confirmed that such an order was issued and it was later withdrawn. Sources mentioned the order was issued after just a few individuals had turned up on the two vaccination centres in Koderma on Saturday in opposition to the administration’s goal to immunise 100 individuals at every facility.

Around 3,200 well being staff have been administered the Covishield vaccine at 48 centres throughout the state on the day gone by. No response to the vaccine was discovered amongst any well being employee, Kulkarni mentioned.
