New Delhi: In a serious resolution, the federal government on Wednesday authorised the procurement of 83 indigenously-developed gentle fight plane Tejas for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a price of Rs 48,000 crore.

The resolution was taken at a gathering of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh mentioned.

In a tweet, Singh mentioned the deal might be a “game-changer” for self-reliance in defence manufacturing in India.
