Government Asks Wikipedia To Remove Link Showing Wrong India Map: Report

The authorities has requested Wikipedia to take away a hyperlink from its platform that has proven an incorrect map of Jammu and Kashmir, in response to sources.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT has issued an order beneath Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 directing Wikipedia to take away the hyperlink, they added.

The matter had been flagged by a Twitter person, who highlighted that the Wikipedia web page on the India-Bhutan relationship had incorrectly depicted the map of Jammu Kashmir, and requested the federal government to take motion.

Sources stated taking cognizance of the matter, the ministry issued an order on November 27, 2020 directing Wikipedia to take away the map because it violated the territorial integrity and sovereignty of India.

They added that the federal government can take authorized motion towards the corporate, together with blocking entry to your entire platform, in case it doesn’t make the modifications.
