Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s well being situation deteriorated with multi-organ failure and he has grow to be unconscious with problem in respiration, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned.

The 86-year outdated veteran Congress politician, who was on Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) since he was admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on November 2 resulting from post-COVID issues, was put beneath invasive air flow, the minister mentioned.

“Around afternoon today, his condition deteriorated with difficulties in breathing. So, doctors started an intubation ventilator, which is machine ventilation,” mentioned Mr Sarma, who rushed to the GMCH to inquire Mr Gogoi’s well being.

Tarun Gogoi is “completely unconscious” and has suffered from multi-organ failure, the minister added.

“Efforts are on to revive his organs with medicines and other means. The doctors will also attempt a dialysis. However, the next 48-72 hours are very critical and we are doing everything possible,” he mentioned.

Mr Sarma mentioned docs of GMCH are in fixed contact with consultants from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi and dominated out any risk of shifting him to exterior the state on this situation.
