David Castro: Fatal capturing of 17-year-old was highway rage incident, Houston police say

David Castro and his brother have been passengers in his father Paul Castro’s automotive on Tuesday when an unidentified suspect in one other car opened fireplace.

At a information convention Friday afternoon, Detective Justin Brown stated authorities needed “to disseminate some of the information we’ve received on the shooting case, the road rage case from the Astros game the other night.”

Brown stated that video taken from numerous sources captured the suspect’s route when he first merged into site visitors because the Astros sport was letting out.

“You can see him driving aggressively, trying to get around traffic he’s actually swerving around people in the intersections,” Brown stated. Then, Brown stated, the suspect and the Castro household “sort of meet together …”

The suspect adopted Mr. Castro, then fired a number of pictures at his car, at the very least one in all them hitting David Castro, in response to a information launch from the Houston Police Department.

Police spokesperson Jodi Silva stated authorities are investigating the capturing as a murder.

Paul Castro, David’s father, instructed CNN he was driving his two sons after the Houston Astros’ sport once they encountered the suspect in a white car.

Castro stated they have been stopped in site visitors after the sport, about two blocks from the stadium. He let three vehicles from lanes alongside him move earlier than he tried to maneuver up, and that is when he encountered the suspect, he stated. The suspect’s car was in a lane that was merging into Castro’s and there was a police officer overseeing site visitors.

“I look in the rearview mirror on my right and I see (the suspect’s) car. I had let three cars go, I start moving and he starts moving into my lane. I don’t let up and he is getting closer, he pulls up to the cones, opens his car door and starts yelling at me,” Castro stated. “He’s yelling at me and he’s pointing at me. All I did was, I motion and I say ‘I’ve already let three cars go.’ The cop tells me to stop, so I stop, he goes, so he won. He took the lane.”

But the incident didn’t finish there. Castro says he and his sons have been nervous concerning the encounter so that they went a special route and the suspect pursued them for roughly three miles, flashing his excessive beams earlier than getting so shut Castro could not see his automotive lights.

Castro stated he determined to make a U-turn and as he made the flip, he heard gunshots.

Castro stated his son was placed on life help — as a result of his household needed to donate his organs — earlier than he was declared useless Thursday at 4:45 p.m., Castro stated.

David was a percussionist within the Westside High School marching band and was wanting ahead to being the part chief within the fall, throughout what would have been his senior 12 months, his father stated. “He was the gentlest, nicest kid in the world. He wouldn’t use these electric fly swatters I have, he literally would not hurt a fly,” Castro stated. “He worried about other people first.”

Police have launched surveillance images of the suspect’s car and are asking for any data on the suspect or the car. The suspect was driving what’s believed to be a 2010 — 2014 Buick Lacrosse with a sunroof, paper tags, and no entrance plates.

Paul Castro is asking for town of Houston to commit “random acts of kindness” on behalf of his son’s life, and one in all them is to show within the suspect.

“I’m asking for your help in bringing him to justice, and I’m not angry at him. I’m angry at what he did, I don’t know who he is, but I know he killed my son. And I’m not looking for blood justice I’m looking for justice,” Castro stated at Friday’s information convention.
