A classes court docket in Mumbai has adjourned until November 23 the listening to into the pre-arrest bail plea of Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and his spouse in a case registered in opposition to them by Mumbai Police for allegedly assaulting a lady police officer.
Their lawyer Shyam Kalyankar stated the plea couldn’t be heard on Thursday because the decide didn’t preside.
“The anticipatory bail plea of Arnab Goswami and his wife was simply adjourned till November 23,” he stated.
“We did not seek any interim protection from arrest today as we are waiting for the detailed order of the Supreme Court (passed on Wednesday granting bail to Arnab Goswami in another matter),” Mr Kalyankar stated.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Arnab Goswami in a case of alleged “abetment to suicide” of inside designer Anvay Naik in 2018.
Arnab Goswami, who was arrested on November 4, was launched from the Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai late final night.
Last week, an FIR was registered in opposition to Arnab Goswami, his spouse Samyabrata Ray Goswami and his son at NM Joshi Marg police station in central Mumbai for allegedly assaulting a lady police officer when a police group went to his home to arrest him on November 4.
Currently, Arnab Goswami and his spouse have filed an anticipatory bail plea within the assault case.
They have been charged underneath Indian Penal Code sections 353 (assault to discourage public servant from discharge of his responsibility), 504 (intentional insult to impress breach of peace) and 506 (legal intimidation) and underneath the Damage to Public Property Act.
