Chinese Mars Rover Beams Back First Photos After Landing

The Zhurong rover was carried into the Martian ambiance in a lander on Saturday, within the first ever profitable probe touchdown by any nation on its first Mars mission.

Zhurong, named after a legendary Chinese fireplace god, arrived just a few months behind the United States’ newest probe to Mars — Perseverance — and has been celebrated in China as a milestone in its ascent to house superpower standing.
