A search has been launched for 2 individuals who allegedly tried to flee with the carcass of a leopard because it died after being hit by their automotive in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district, officers stated on Friday.
The full-grown leopard was run over by the MUV automotive on a freeway close to Jaldapara sanctuary on Thursday, they stated.
Those within the automotive took the carcass and sped away however the police on getting a tip-off stopped them after just a few kilometres, officers stated.
However, the duo fled on foot after being stopped, leaving the automotive behind, a forest official stated.43
The carcass was discovered within the boot of the automotive, he stated. The registration plate of the automotive was lacking, however police managed to hint the proprietor of the car and establish the duo who’re on the run, the official stated.
The carcass was later handed over to the Forest Department.
