Boston’s arts fee voted unanimously Tuesday night time to take away a statue that depicts a freed slave kneeling at Abraham Lincoln’s ft.

But Blacks weren’t a part of the design course of, and the memorial’s central visible takeaway — a Black man kneeling earlier than his white savior — has had folks cringing for years.

Protesters have vowed to tear down the unique statue in Washington, which has been protected by National Guard troops guarding it and different monuments.
