Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Friday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs to manipulate Assam from Nagpur whereas permitting outsiders to take over the state whereas, the Congress would work as per the desires of the locals.

Addressing a public assembly within the Tinsukia district forward of the Assembly election in Assam, Rahul Gandhi mentioned, “BJP wants to run Assam from Nagpur (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Headquarters). They want outsiders to come and (take over) take what is yours as they took your airport. We want to run Assam from Assam only. Our Chief Minister will work after listening to the people of Assam and would have nothing to do with Nagpur.”

The Congress chief, who arrived within the state on a two-day marketing campaign started with interplay with college students at a university in Lahowal in Dibrugarh and interacted with tea backyard staff at Dinjoy tea property in Dibrugarh.

During his interplay with college students in Dibrugarh earlier, the Wayanad MP additionally hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the latter visited the state solely throughout election time.

“During the floods, you (the voter) cannot give him anything so he does not come but during elections, you can give him votes, so he comes,” Mr Gandhi mentioned.

Further, he attacked the BJP on the Centre for rising “unemployment amongst youth, the declining democracy, and the farm regulation protest.

Mr Gandhi mentioned, “Democracy is declining. Youth are unemployed, farmers are protesting, CAA is there. We cannot ask the folks of Assam to overlook their tradition, language if they arrive to Delhi. People from completely different cultures, languages, religions make up India. One pressure, born in Nagpur, attempting to regulate the entire nation. If the nation’s future (college students) can’t overtly discuss to the Prime Minister, then there isn’t a doubt that one thing someplace is flawed.”

The Congress can be contesting the Assembly polls in alliance with the minority-based All India United Democratic Front and 4 different events.

Assembly elections in Assam for 126 seats can be held in three phases beginning on March 27. The counting of votes will happen on May 2.
