Ava DuVernay’s Caste will look at ‘how our lives as we speak are outlined by a hierarchy of human divisions courting again generations.’

Filmmaker Ava DuVernay is ready to direct Caste, a drama based mostly on Isabel Wilkerson’s critically-acclaimed novel, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.

The challenge marks DuVernay’s third collaboration with Netflix after the documentary 13th and the miniseries When They See Us.

According to Variety, the movie will use a multiple-story construction to look at the “unspoken system that has shaped America and chronicles how our lives today are defined by a hierarchy of human divisions dating back generations.”

DuVernay can even produce the film, alongside ARRAY Filmworks’ Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes.

Netflix government Tendo Nagenda will accomplice with the Oscar-nominated director for the challenge, after working collectively on Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, her 2018 adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s traditional story.
