A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.1 shook components of Pakistan early Wednesday, killing one individual within the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, in line with a media report.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicenter of the quake was 44km southwest of Khost in Afghanistan at a depth of 50.8km. The quake struck at 1:54 am (native time). The tremors have been felt in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore and different components of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
A person was reported to have died after the roof of his home collapsed following the tremors in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, the person – a member of the native soccer staff – was asleep inside his home in Lakki Marwat on the time the roof collapsed, the Express Tribune newspaper reported.
The tremors unfold worry and panic as folks rushed out into open areas.
